INSIDE FACEBOOK — Western Europe is beginning to cede some ground to central and eastern Europe, in terms of growth, according to our latest Global Monitor report. While there are still relatively unsaturated western markets like Germany and Spain making headway, others like the United Kingdom and Iceland have slowed or stopped growing this month. Meanwhile, Poland and Romania, among others, are quickly adding Facebook users. As a whole, Europe is now up to 129 million users as of March 1st, a 5.1% increase from February...

INSIDE FACEBOOK — Facebook grew by nearly 5 million people in the United States last month, from 108 million to 113 million. The service has gained around this amount every month starting about midway through last year, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing. Growth is also across-the-board, in terms of user demographics, although men of all ages appeared to be joining in greater numbers and growth rates. The result can be seen (barely) in the overall gender breakdown. The site was 56.07% female in January, and in February it fell to 55.60%...

INSIDE FACEBOOK — Facebook had another strong month across Asia and the Middle East, growing by 8.5% in January to reach 73.5 million monthly active users. But as with other parts of the world, many smaller countries that grew first are now maxing out; with large portions of their online populaces on Facebook, there’s no room left to grow. Meanwhile, big countries in Asia are surging. Even though some have millions of users already, they have a lot of room left to grow. We’re seeing the same trend in Europe and other parts of the world...
